Buying a New Sofa

The time has come where we need to replace our ten year old sofa suite and Buying a New Sofa.  It's done quite well over the years considering it's had to deal with babies, toddlers and puppies!  The puppies were the nail in the coffin though as they chewed through one of the corner cushions and it now needs to be covered up with a throw.  Not quite the "show home" look that i was aiming for!  As we will be spending this summer at home instead of the usual holiday abroad, it seems like a good time to make the most of the staycation and update some key pieces around the home.

This is the aforementioned corner that has been ripped open by the puppies and chewed!
We did consider a repair but it would mean replacing the whole of the foam insert and patching the cover so quite a big job.
Another alternative could be to get an upholsterer to bespoke make a cover but as it is part of a suite this would be expensive.
There are lots of places selling "one size fits all"covers but they require tucking into the gaps and wouldn't cover the bottom sections of our sofas so for us this wasn't an option either.
So our hunt for a new sofa begins!

Our Recommendation For Buying a Sofa

First off, we found the Sofa Company.  What first attracted us was the Next Day Delivery service which is really unusual with sofa companies.  The Sofa Company only sell items which they have in stock, so you will never have to wait for a delivery. They despatch at 11 am every working day (i.e. Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays), and their standard service is either a next day or a 2-5 day service. So if you purchase your item at 10am in the morning it will be despatched the same day and delivered either the next working day or 2-5 days later. If you purchase at 10pm in the evening it will be despatched on the next working day.  Of course, if you would prefer not to receive your delivery immediately you can also arrange despatch for a later date directly with them.

Although our search was for a sofa, we were side tracked by the selection of recliner seats.  In particular, the Portman riser recliner which comes with a massage function AND a heated seat!  Wrong time of the year for the heated seat right now but imagine how cosy that would be come autumn/winter time to settle down in a heated seat?!  This recliner is under £500 and can be delivered next day.

The chair is covered in a woven fabric and is a match for the Portman suite, which has a manual recline function.  All products are tested to UK safety standards.

Onto the sofa selection...

Our favourite fabric covered sofa is this beautiful and elegant piece.  The Marlowe Corner Sofa is a fantastic example of how a few modern touches can add additional style to your home.

The suite is covered in a soft, luxurious woven fabric. The hard wood frame is designed to support a busy domestic environment and the sprung and foam filled interior combines both comfort and support.

The curved arms and chrome legs add a real touch of elegance and the spacious seating area provides plenty of room for guests.
